Ends of the Earth Missions
History
In 1987, we pastored a church in Alabama. We took a mission trip to the Philippines. As a result of that trip we began to support mission work there. From 1987-1993 we visited South America, Mexico, Canada, Mainland China, New Zealand, Okinawa, and Hong Kong. We made several trips to the Amazonas Territory, Venezuela, as well as the Philippines. My wife and I took a railway trip of over 2,000 miles from North China to Hong Kong. We stopped in several towns along the way. Our hearts were stirred more and more for the need of world evangelization.
The Lord used several people to prepare us. Veteran missionaries and nationals on foreign fields challenged us. No one does anything by himself in God's work. There are always shoulders we stand on. In 1993, we resigned the pastorate of the church where we had been for 17 years to go into full-time mission work.
From 1993-96 we worked in the Philippines and trained Filipinos.
However, calls began for missionaries to China. By 1995 we had placed 4 missionaries and started a school in Mainland China. By this time it was evident a unique mission board was needed to get people into remote areas and "closed countries." Ends of the Earth Mission formed in 1995.
Now (2008) there are 25 missionaries in Mainland China and a Christian school. We have graduated 90 Filipino Bible students from our 4-year resident school on the islands of Panay and Mindanao, Philippines; and started 52 churches in remote areas. Missionaries are in China, Mexico, Mongolia, Africa and the Philippines. Since 1993 over 23,500 souls have come to know the Lord through this ministry.
Our Mission
Ends of the Earth Missions is committed to carrying the gospel of Christ worldwide. As an independent Baptist organization, we enable workers and their supporting churches to establish and sustain effective missionary outreaches for neglected people groups in "closed" countries and remote regions of the world.
"Where there is no vision, the people perish."
Proverbs 29:18
Worldwide evangelization is the responsibility of every Christian. Reaching remote regions and closed countries, however, requires capabilities beyond the means of most. EOTEM helps bridge the gap for churches willing to help and missionaries willing to serve. Our purpose is to:
- Provide missionary access to closed countries and remote regions.
- Mobilize long-term missionary efforts and short-term opportunities.
- Train and equip national missionaries for indigenous evangelization.
- Provide spiritual and practical support to missionaries and churches.
Innovation
EOTEM provides worldwide placement services for missionaries. We're not in competition with any other mission organization of like faith and intent . . . . we simply stand compelled to do all within our
power and means to:
"...be for salvation unto the ends of the earth."
Acts 13:47
We believe we should be diligent and utilize all reasonable methods not contrary to Scriptural principles in getting the Gospel to the world. In addition to traditional mission methods, EOTEM supports "tentmaking" evangelism, short-term mission trips, seminars, business opportunities, athletics, education, medical and dental clinics, etc. We must be innovative if we expect to enter and effectively minister in difficult places beyond our normal comfort zones.
From preparation for the mission field to active ministries, EOTEM is uniquely responsive to the missionaries and their families, providing ongoing support and service to them while protecting their full purpose on the mission field.
Opportunity
CHINA. Full-time, conversational English teacher positions are available at various universities throughout China. These positions allow Christian men and women many opportunities to establish
Christian relationships with Chinese students.
THE PHILIPPINES. We focus on the education and training of local
Filipino men and women to serve as pastors and teachers while establishing new churches throughout the Philippines. To date, 50+ churches have been started BY FILIPINO NATIONALS!
MONGOLIA. Short-term trips by EOTEM missionaries have opened the door for full-time, in-country missionary works to be established in the heartland of Mongolia--a country that has long
been closed to mission work.
MEXICO. Although the nation of Mexico has long since been open to
missionary work, a great need still exists for full-time missionaries in the more remote and inaccessible areas of Mexico.
CAMBODIA & THAILAND. Recent short-term trips by EOTEM missionaries have opened the door for full-time, in-country missionary works to be established in Cambodia and Thailand.
WORLDWIDE. Our worldwide contacts enable EOTEM to be an aid to missionaries desiring to serve almost anywhere. Please let us know if you're interested in establishing a work elsewhere.
MEDICAL AND DENTAL CLINICS. These clinics provide excellent short-term mission opportunities for medical professionals. We use free village clinics to provide care to people who otherwise have no access to medical services as "door openers" for future evangelism work and church planting. Ends of the Earth Mission organizes several trips to various locations each year. Please contact us if you would like to participate in a rewarding and challenging short-term medical trip.
7-10 DAY MISSION TRIPS. These trips are designed to inform and inspire those from local churches who wish to know more about a particular field. Please contact us if you wish to learn more about these opportunities.
PUBLICATIONS. EOTEM offers various video/audio tapes, books, and articles to interested mission students.
MISSIONARY TRAINING. Conducted in the USA, EOTEM offers an annual missionary training that provides 12 days of concentrated study for EOTEM missionaries on a wide variety of essential topics for Bible college students, church leaders, and for those interested in missions.
